11 Mar

On March 11, 2016 at the High Commission of a Concerted Governance, Cotonou, the 7th press release  of the electoral Platform of the civil society organizations of Benin in the context of “the Tuesdays and  Fridays of the platform” held a briefing on the election process in progress. During this occasion the electoral platform of the OCS of Benin thanked the Election Commission for its collaboration and for the work done, made suggestions to the constitutional court regarding the proclamation of the results, gave its position on the question of the voters’ card and finally gave some recommendations on the security of the vote.

Regarding the voters card, the platform met with the coordinator of the National Treatment Center on the 9th of March, 2016 to enquire about the evolution of the situation. The information acquired from the meeting was that 85% of the voters’ card has been printed, and only the voters’ card of the department of Zou is still in the printing process. They made use of the opportunity to announce a call to action to all Benin citizens to help the National Treatment Center  to buy an essential material, the ribbon used for the printers, which is slowing down the production of the voters card.

The specificities of the ribbon are: ZPX Series 7, true colours, ix series, CARD PRINTER RIBBON, Lot 478486, Made in USA.  Every help is welcome.

The electoral platform also thanked all the observers deployed on the field on the voting day, for their engagement and on who they are still counting for the run-off. The platform also congratulated the people of Benin for its maturity and invites her to continue to watch.

Finally the platform asked each and everyone to have a citizen-like and peaceful behavior. They denounced every publication published on social media that could lead to religious wars and exhorts everyone to work for the peace and security of all before, during and after 20th march.
